Waouh Machine EP est la version numérique fixe de l'œuvre Waouh Machine.

La Waouh Machine est un objet d’art sonore inédit contenant dans son ventre et ses modules le nouvel album aléatoire de l’artiste I Am A Vowel. À la fois sculpture lumineuse et dispositif sonore, l’objet est né quelque part dans l’univers de sa créatrice au croisement entre technologies numériques, techniques ancestrales de transe, poésie sonore et expérience synesthésique. Concrètement, la Waouh Machine est née pour expérimenter la musique autrement.

Comment ça marche ?
Une nappe atmosphérique est la matrice qui sert de base à laquelle s’ajoutent 8 modules sonores qui intègre chacun un nouveau son. Chaque module contient plusieurs sons joués de manière aléatoire. Lorsque les 8 modules sont connectés, cela donne des millions de possibilités. La machine activée et manipulée doit générer l’album dans son entièreté mais il est quasiment impossible d’entendre ou de toucher 2 fois la même version de l’album. La machine crée son propre événement musical en fonction des modules ajoutés.

The Waouh Machine is a unique sound art object containing the new random album by artist I Am A Vowel. Both a light sculpture and a sound device, the object was born somewhere in the creator's universe at the intersection of experimental music, digital technologies, ancient trance techniques, sound poetry, and synesthetic experience. Concretely, the Waouh Machine was born to experiment with music differently.

How does it work?
An atmospheric bed is the matrix that serves as the base to which 8 sound modules are added, each containing a new sound. Each module contains several sounds played randomly. When the 8 modules are connected, this gives millions of possibilities. The activated and manipulated machine should generate the entire album, but it is almost impossible to hear or touch the same version of the album twice. The machine creates its own musical event based on the added modules.

Available February 2023:
Original version: 10 signed and numbered copies of the Waouh Machine (29*28*34cm). Allows you to play randomly over 16Mo of tracks.
Digital version: available for download on Bandcamp.

I Am A Vowel is the solo project of Nelly Larguier, an artist originally from the south of France now based in Brussels after having lived in London, Paris, and South Asia. She creates very personal experimental techno music and textured pop drones. Her work has been classified as sound poetry and experimental music. She directs her work towards the production of hybrid artworks. The Waouh Machine, built with the help of lioil.Studio, is the first to be unveiled to the public.

OMG the textures! Contrasting Karen's strong & clear voice with the fraying, hazing, gauzy manipulations of the guitars and synths is a must-hear. Panacea I gives you a good thing, then Panacea II deconstructs the voice, then gives you way more of a good thing turning it into a complete re-imagining of an already re-imagined track. "Panacea II" would be a superb inclusion to "The Arrival" if that soundtrack were released now. Support this release. F'ing outstanding. Anthony Childs
